Second phase of Actcast-based customer analysis begins at Sogo & Seibu

The second phase of a pilot programme analysing customers with Actcast, Idein’s edge AI platform holding the No.1 domestic market share (*), began on 12 October in the event space of Seibu Ikebukuro’s main store. The first phase, run in April, found that visitors to the event space were on average more than 10 years older than actual purchasers — a finding that is now being reflected in the ongoing renovation of the 2nd floor of Seibu Ikebukuro’s main store.

Comment from Sogo & Seibu

“Thanks to this round of AI-camera-based customer analysis, we can now track the number of visitors to the event space and estimate their attributes (gender and age group). Going forward, we will use this data to curate a product line-up that better matches customer needs. In the future we also plan to analyse how customers move between the event space and other floors, to see whether events held there help draw customers to other floors, and use that to improve our line-up and refine our rollout plans for the event space.”

Attention to privacy

Because Actcast, our edge AI platform, sends only the analysis results to the cloud as text data, it enables data use with privacy in mind.
